Yomita Translator

Talk to anyone, anywhere.

A real-time voice translator you can put down. It speaks for both of you as you talk, so you connect with the person in front of you, not the screen.

A traveller and a local laughing across a café table above a river, a phone lying face-up between the coffee cups and neither of them looking at it.
Two modes

Face to face, or the whole room.

Talking with one person is different from keeping up with a group. So Yomita does each one its own way.

Converse

Put the phone down. Keep talking.

Converse is a hands-free interpreter for two. One of you speaks, Yomita says it in the other's language, and the conversation keeps going. There's nothing to tap between sentences.

  • Hands free, both ways

It hears when you've finished and speaks for you. You can hold a coffee, a menu, or someone's hand.

  • Heard and seen

Every line is spoken out loud in the other language and shown on screen in both, so nothing gets lost in a noisy room.

  • Set the mood

Tell Yomita what kind of conversation it is. It picks the words and tone to match: the warm, familiar form on a date, the polite one at the front desk.

  • An interpreter, not a third person

No greetings, no "sure, I can help with that," no commentary. Only what you said, in their language.

Listen

Be in the room, not behind it.

At a dinner, a party or a meeting, the conversation doesn't wait for you. Listen translates what people around you are saying into your language while they talk, so you can laugh at the joke with everyone else.

  • In your ears, as they speak

Yomita doesn't wait for people to finish. It translates while they're still talking, so you're not a sentence behind.

  • Private with earbuds

The translation stays in your ears. Nobody has to slow down, repeat themselves, or even know it's there.

  • Swipe to join in

When you want to say something, swipe to the speak page and talk. Yomita says it out loud in their language, then goes back to listening.

  • Read along

A running transcript in your language, for when you look down to catch up on what you missed.

Built to disappear

The best translator is the one you forget.

Yomita is judged by the conversation you had, not by the time you spent looking at it.

It translates. That's all.

Ask it for directions and it asks the person in front of you. It never answers for them.

Your voice skips our servers.

Audio goes straight from your phone to the model. We never receive it, so there is nothing on our side to store.

No sign-up.

No password, no profile to fill in. Open it, pick two languages, and talk.

Questions

Good to know.

What's the difference between Converse and Listen?

Converse is for two people talking face to face. The phone sits between you and speaks each person's words out loud in the other's language. Listen is for following a group. It translates what people around you are saying into your language, in your earbuds, and lets you swipe to reply out loud.

How many languages does it speak?

Thirty-six, spoken both ways: Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Tagalog, Tamil, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu and Vietnamese. Pick the two you need before you start.

Does the other person need the app?

No. One phone is all it takes, in either mode.

Do I need earbuds?

Not for Converse, which speaks out loud for both of you. For Listen they're recommended: the translation stays in your ears and only your replies are heard in the room.

Is my conversation stored?

Audio goes straight from your phone to the translation model. Our servers never receive it. Transcripts stay on your phone.

Does it work offline?

No. Live translation needs an internet connection.
